Move, Heal and Feel better than ever...

Pregnancy Massage

Pregnancy massage is a wonderful way to ease stress and aching limbs, and alleviate some of the symptoms and conditions associated with pregnancy.
A Swedish style massage, using light and gentle strokes for relaxation, is specially tailored to you and your pregnancy. We use safe and specific antenatal techniques to alleviate the stresses and strains of pregnancy, and help you fully relax. The treatment can cover the full body, and can focus on any particular aches and pains you are experiencing if needed.

We use side-lying positioning with supportive soft cushions in place, to make sure you are comfortable and able to relax.
Pregnancy massage cannot be given during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Massage during pregnancy can help:

Head, Hands & Feet Massage

Head, Hands & Feet is a relaxing treatment taking in the head, face, neck, shoulders, upper back and pressure points in the hands and feet. It is based on an ancient therapeutic treatment practiced for thousands of years, originally to improve wellbeing through out the body.

The massage promotes deep relaxation and therefore may relieve stress and help you sleep better. It also stimulates the flow of blood, lymph and oxygen in your body and can also help to relieve tension headaches.

Sports & Remedial Massage

Sports massage is a deep tissue massage that helps the mobilisation and stretching of muscles to their full length and potential. It is used in the prevention of an injury as well as speeding up recovery on new, recurring and old injuries.

Remedial massage provides a remedy to muscular dysfunction. It separates adhesion and scar tissue and helps realign damaged muscle fibres, with the aim of restoring balance within the body.

Both of these treatments are good for anyone, from the athlete to someone that wants to improve their active lifestyle or just want a deep tissue massage. They use a variety of techniques, such as Soft Tissue Release (STR) Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) and Muscle Energy Technique (MET) and Friction.

It is not uncommon for either of these massage treatments to be a little uncomfortable, sometimes known as ‘good pain’.

At Massage Weymouth we work to your limits as no two people are the same.

Physio / Rehab

Our primary aim is to get you back to full functioning ability/fitness. This is achieved through the combination of an individually tailored treatment done by either our own Physio or Sports Therapist. Once we have resolved the discomfort that was making movement awkward/painful, we can move forward to a rehabilitation programme, making those weak areas strong again. Rehabilitation is solely aimed at identifying and resolving your issues/injuries. Together we can achieve your goals and get you back to your personal 100%.

We have a highly skilled team that have experience with a wide range of injuries/issues including: all Muscle Strains, Posture Weakness, Ankle Sprains, Knee Pain, Lower Back Pain, Rotator Cuff Injuries, Shoulder and Neck Injury, preparation and recovery for generalised soft tissue, muscular and bone or joint surgeries – such as pre and post Hip Replacement preparative therapy / rehabilitation.

Acupuncture / Dry Needling

Acupuncture is a treatment derived from ancient Chinese medicine. Fine needles are inserted at certain sites in the body for therapeutic or preventative purposes.

How acupuncture works

It involves stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles of the body.
This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins.
A course of acupuncture is recommended or to be used along side a course of massage treatments, as this usually creates longer lasting pain relief than just a single treatment.

Traditional acupuncture is based on the belief that an energy, or “life force”, flows through the body in channels called meridians. This life force is known as Qi (pronounced “chee”).

Practitioners who adhere to traditional beliefs about acupuncture believe that when Qi doesn’t flow freely through the body, this can cause blockages within the body resulting in illness and muscle strain. So acupuncture can restore the flow of Qi, and so restore health and relieve pain and restriction within the body.

Ear Health & Wax Removal

So we can get the most out of our lives, at any age, it is important that we get our ears checked – especially if you have any of these signs:

An ear assessment on both ears is necessary, every time you come to see us. This is to make sure that the ears are healthy and if wax removal is actually required.

If anything should be found that needs to be reported to your GP, this will be forwarded for you, along with her professional notes and photographic evidence of her findings.

Deep Tissue / Thai Style Massage

Works deep into the muscles and helps eliminate muscle aches, pains and fatigue, as well as boosting circulation to remove broken down toxins. Relieves tension created by strained or contracted muscles. Increases flexibility in joints, aiding mobility and movement.

Pre or Post event Sports Taping

Sports taping with Kinesiology tape is a definitive rehabilitative taping technique that is designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process while providing support and stability to muscles and joints without restricting the body’s range of motion. This will be offered within your treatment when and where necessary, to prolong the benefits of manual therapy administered within your treatment.

This can also be used pre and post event outside of your normal treatment time at an additional cost of £10 for 15min taping treatment.

Cupping

Cupping therapy works by putting special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. This procedure helps lift the myofascia layer causing a myofascial release, improving blood flow to that certain area. This has many purposes, including to help with pain, tightness in the muscle area, inflammation, and as a type or aid of deep-tissue massage.

Cupping therapy might be trendy now, but it’s not new. It dates back to Egyptian times recording it as far back as 1550 B.C.

Podiatry / Chiropody

Do you suffer from:

Podiatry/Chiropody provides preventive care, diagnosis and treatment of a range of problems affecting the feet, ankle and legs, helping improve the independence and quality of life for their patients.

Some problems that people encounter with their feet are inherited, some are down to the wear and tear of ageing, some are due to medical conditions and some are caused by ill-fitting footwear. All of these can affect your mobility/walking gait and posture/biomechanics of the body.

Many of these conditions cause ongoing discomfort that may be alleviated with simple treatment and/or advice. Following the advice of a registered Podiatrist/Chiropodist and partaking in a routine of individually tailored treatments and a daily footcare regime, is simple and in most cases is all that is needed.

We offer a service that can cover all of this and more. Our Podiatrist will look at the whole picture and be able to help you with the gait analysis/biomechanics issues of the lower limbs and proper foot wear advice, with possible products to help you get the results you want quicker.

For a great many people basic hygiene and nail cutting is all they need to keep their feet healthy, but when normal feet turn into problem feet its best to seek the professional help of a Registered Podiatrist/Chiropodist.

MLD / Lymphatic Drainage

Lymphatic drainage is a therapeutic massage treatment. The massage uses very light pressure and long, gentle, rhythmic strokes to increase the flow of lymph and reduce toxins in your body.

The lymph system is part of your body’s immune system and helps fight infection. It transports nutrients and oxygen to cells, collecting toxins on the way and flushing them out through the lymph nodes. You have around twice as many lymph vessels as blood vessels in your body. However, unlike blood, which is pumped around by your heart, the lymph system has no pump. The pressure from your blood vessels and movement from your muscles push the lymphatic fluid around.

What is MLD / lymphatic drainage massage good for?

Reflexology could help you. This is a relaxing treatment that is given by applying varying types of pressure to the feet/lower legs or hands. These areas are said to correspond to organs/parts of the body within the same zone/meridian. Reflexology helps you to completely de-stress, calming the mind and generating deep relaxation, allowing healing energy to flow fluently around the body again. This aids healing to the whole person and not just the presenting symptoms.

Reflexology doesn’t diagnose/treat precise ailments by definition, though it can over time relieve symptoms or ease pain & discomfort that have manifested within the body.
